What is the Explorer Post 7?
Explorer Post 7 is an organization open to all youth ranging in age from 14 to 18. The Post is dedicated to teaching teenagers about the firefighting, and EMS fields. The knowledge obtained through numerous meetings, and training sessions can assist teenagers in deciding if they would like to join a volunteer fire department or pursue a career in the fire or EMS field.
Explorer Post 7 Overview
Explorer Post 7 was established in 2000 as a fire and EMS post through the Moscow Volunteer Fire and Hose Company and the Boy Scouts of America. In the beginning the Post met once a month, alternating each month between fire and EMS training. Past activities included patient extraction from motor vehicles, search and rescue training, CPR certification, and hose and ladder drills. The Explorer Post took many trips to various other fire companies and Emergency Service facilities. Some departments and facilities toured were the Dickson City Fire Department, Scranton Wilkes-Barre International Airport Fire Department, Tobyhanna Army Depot Fire Department, Life Flight, and Lackawanna County Communication Center. The Post also made a few day trips to the Lancaster Firemen’s Expo in Harrisburg, PA.
Currently, the Post meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month in addition to training with fire and ambulance personnel. Members are also encouraged to enroll in training programs offered to fire department members. Field trips to other emergency services locations continue to be a highlight experience. You are welcome to join our Explorer Post.
Explorer Post 7 Membership Requirements!
- Members must be between the ages of 14 and 18.
- Willing to be certified in CPR.
- Members will not violate the rules set in the Post bylaws.
- Members will obey all polices set forth by the Exploring Program.
